Beware of Domain Registration Scams

Scam artists are at it again. Hardly a week goes by when one of my clients doesn’t get approached by some sort of Internet scam. Yesterday, a client forwarded one of the latest variations of the domain name registration scam. Huge Click Fraud Ring is Busted

A massively large click fraud ring called DormRing1 was detected and shut down. The culprits were located in Singapore and China. The Chinese connection used over 1000 college students operating out of Shanghai Technology Institute and other Chinese technical colleges to scam advertisers for fraudulent click charges in pay-per-click advertising campaigns.

New Yahoo & MSN Partnership Deal – What Does It Mean?

on July 26, MSN and Yahoo announced a 10-year deal where they will partner to compete more aggressively against Google. The exact details of the partnership have not yet been hammered out, but tentative roles have been announced.

The Canonical Link Tag

On February 19, Google announced a new tag that specifies the standard version of a URL to help avoid duplicate content issues with search engines. The new tag specifies the canonical, or standard version of a URL. MSN and Yahoo also announced that they will recognize the canonical tags.
